At Sunday's Rally in Portland, Oregon Bernie Sander's new Campaign Press Secretary told the crowd of 20, 000 that they were anticipating a disruption, a reference to the Black Lives Matter interruption that had occurred the day before at a rally for Social Security in Seattle. If this were to happen Symone D. Sanders said that the crowd was to respond with the chant We Stand Together.
I happen to like We Stand Together. It resonates with a theme of Bernie's as he makes the point to say, ""When we stand together, we always win." I imagine it is a call for unity in the face of the way Corporate America attempts to divide and conquer. But recently I have heard from both black and white folks that this is potentially dismissive of the #Black Lives Matter movement and no better than the All Lives Matter response to the BLM movement. Let's think this one through people.
This clip from the Majority Report raises the question. What do you think?
